Cheerful Colors and Lighting
The effects of color texture and light on the user's perceptions are factors that directly affect the design. These three factors, which control the air, size, and function of the space and also the psychological effect on the user, should create an atmosphere that will overcome phobias in dental offices and that welcomes patients with humane, warm arms. The safer and more comfortable the user feels in the space, the less fear he will have for the treatment he will receive in the dental sense.
In general, it is recommended to prefer colors in light tones in the space. Light-tone colors make the space look cleaner and bigger. The use of too many light tones of color can also make the space seem too big and cold. In these cases, the dark colors used in places will create a contrast and take the user's eye away from the multitude of light colors and offer a more aesthetic appearance. These dark colors can be used on walls, ceiling or office doors, floor covering, or even furniture;
- 1-It can indicate a function or an area where a focal point is desired to be made
- 2-Adds movement to the space as it will create a Decoupling between light tones
- 3-It can provide planned orientation in the space because it will be attached to the user's eye between light tones.
Let's imagine a waiting area with white walls. If you prefer dark colors that will contrast with the white wall in places where there are seating groups, the user will gravitate to that area because these dark colors will be worn by the user's eyes. Thus, you will both direct the user to the seating area and successfully perform the function of the waiting room.
So what are these cheerful colors that will create a contrast with light tones?
Today the trend color choices: are hot shades of yellow, mustard yellow, colors of Orange, Blue, and Red(color should be considered to use carefully, too much red can lead to anxiety), and shades of green.
Attention should be paid to not selecting too loud tones in the selected colors, and to the distribution ratio of colors in the space. These dark colors are used to add movement, warmth, and a friendly atmosphere to the space. Too much can tire the eye and cause discomfort to the user.
Fun Decors
Fun decors designed for people with dental phobia have recently been in a popular position in dental offices. These designs distract the attention of both children and parents from dental phobias, allowing them to have fun and feel more comfortable. Because smiling and having a fun time is contagious, the day of all users in the space brightens up.
Instead of television where broadcast random advertisements and documentaries do not attract attention. Maybe television broadcasts according to user types, perhaps wall decorations surrounding televisions, creative stalactites, and televisions turn into living works of art. The accessories and furniture used in the space are transformed into games and entertainment systems for users, apart from aesthetic purposes.
Breathing Spaces in Treatment Areas
We see that the traditional understanding of treatment areas has changed over time. Traditionally, treatment areas were designed as a series of closed rooms with space-separating panels or walls. With the new design trends, floor plans are being created instead of closed-room plans. With this method, we see semi-permeable divider panels to separate the patient chairs from each other, and plans with little or no walls, furniture, and areas are determined. In open planning, the natural light coming from the windows is distributed over larger areas during the examination, creating a spacious and bright atmosphere. If divider panels or walls are used, it should be noted that their height is not up to the ceiling. The aim is not to cut off the light coming from above, but to create openings so that it can spread over the entire area.
A Warm Environment
In new designs, waiting rooms should create reassuring feelings for their users, such as home warmth. Maybe a fireplace instead of straight-lined single armchairs? Elegant seating groups around a decorative coffee table? With these suggestions, instead of looking at the necks of people waiting in line, areas can be created that are warm and inviting and encourage you to talk to people close to you.
Different Themes
Dental offices are turning to different themes in their office designs to show their signatures. The boring, neutral palette offices that repeat themselves are replaced by different designs with contemporary designs. We can say that the cold air of simple white walls, colorful designs, and themes decorated with modern lines are trending.
Vintage paintings, leather armchairs, a large library... In short, dental offices with their character.
The Friend of Our Little Friends
With child-friendly themes, dental offices, instead of being a nightmare for children, turn into catchy, fun places. The time spent in the waiting area for children can be quiet and stressful. This stress on the child will be reflected in the parents as soon as possible. To overcome the dentist phobia, in this waiting area it is necessary to show the children not the upcoming treatment, but how they can have fun in this free time.
For example,
-A cartoon or broadcast loved by children can be watched in the waiting area. The theme of decorating the room can also develop in parallel with this publication.
-To overcome the dentist phobia, dentist-themed toys and entertainment systems can be considered instead of distracting the child's attention with other themes. Imagine a doll whose teeth are painted with black pencils. The child can clean the doll's teeth with a cotton swab with a tip, then brush his teeth again with a brush similar to this.
Congratulations, you are now a dentist.
-Do you have a child who likes silence and reading books more than entertainment systems? How about setting up a book club with children's bookcase seating groups that can be solved in the waiting room?
It is possible to produce a lot of examples like the one above. The designer puts himself in the place of the user profile and says, “What would I want if I were this?" it is enough for them to put the answers they find to their question into a pool of ideas.
So what happens after this idea pool is created?
After the design selected from the idea pool is finalized, the design team begins to implement it. There is a deep research phase before the implementation phase. Because the design team should think about the satisfaction of the customers who tell them their design dream as well as the satisfaction of the users who use the space. Customer satisfaction can be gained by providing items that seem simple but are so troublesome when entered into:
- Economic
- Aesthetic
- Available
- For these items, the design team must conduct deep market research.
- Where is the location where the project will be built?
- What are the environmental characteristics?
- What is the target user audience?
- What is the project user capacity?
- What is the maximum cost that the customer can afford?
- What materials does the customer want to see?
- What are the special designs requested by the customer?
- What can be useful and durable designs?
- How can aesthetics be achieved?
- What is the customer's signature on the design?
- What is the signature of the design team on the design?
- Where are the material supply areas close to the project area?
- What are the local materials commonly used in the project area?
- Material suppliers?
- The team of masters who will make the application?
- What is the latest situation in the market in projecting?
- Quality control at the implementation stage?
